To Majorca and back

Part 2, Chapter 3 ‘Getting spliced’, ‘PAID TO LIVE THE DREAM’

What a wonderful day it was because Jill and I were to be legally bound to each other but what a shame I was in no state to appreciate it – thanks to Paul and Sid! There can’t be many lovelier churches than St Leonards in Bursledon.

Part 2, Chapter 5, ‘For Better and for Worse’, ‘PAID TO LIVE THE DREAM’

The cutter anchored in a bay in Majorca

What a good thing that Jill was so insistent that she join me on the trip to Majorca and back. We certainly experienced the good and the bad together – mostly good and the worse was undoubtedly the horrendous crossing of the notorious Bay of Biscay.

It was such a shame that we didn’t sail very much during the Majorca trip. The cutter was a heavy vessel and the afternoon sea breezes were insufficient to power us along fast enough to make it worthwhile. Motoring around didn’t appeal to me. Sailing was what it was about as far as I was concerned but we really did have a most amazing time..

Jill became quite an accomplished water skier during the times that we were anchored in the various bays whilst cruising around the island. Not bad, getting paid to learn to water ski!
